Next DVD Ripper can rip DVDs and convert them to popular video formats such as AVI, MPEG, WMV or 3GP or even to audio ones like MP3 or WAV. This way you can play your ripped DVDs on a wide range of devices including iPhone, PSP, iPod, etc. It also lets you configure various parameters of the output file, such as bit rate, frame rate, and so on.
I wish I could say that I like the interface of the app, but though it’s neat and simple-to-use, it looks a bit lackluster and unoriginal. I’ve seen a lot of other DVD rippers looking pretty much the same. Moreover, it can’t be resized or customized in any way.
The reliability of this tool is another aspect that I have to question. It ripped to AVI files without any problem; but when I tried to rip to MP4 files, it crashed without any warning or error message. This problem was gone when I tested it on another computer. In all my tests the ripping speed was decent but not impressive.
In the end, Next DVD Ripper looks like a dubious choice to me. Depending on the installed codecs and on your configuration (and with a bit of luck), it may work flawlessly on your computer and meet your needs fully; but in some cases it may work improperly and turn into a headache for its users. Taking risks is not something I can recommend, especially since there are so many alternatives available.
