Next DVD Ripper is a handy application that offers a very simple, easy and fast way of ripping DVDs and converting video files.
It can convert videos or rip DVDs to a large variety of file formats, including the popular ones like AVI, MP4, FLV, 3GP, WMV and many other more. This application can rip DVDs to formats compatible with portable devices such as iPad, iPhone, iPod, PSP, Xbox, etc. It can also extract the sound track from DVD titles and video files and save it to audio files like MP3 or AAC.

A nice feature of this utility is the fact that it allows you to configure the bit rate, frame rate and other parameters of the output file, regardless of the selected format. Furthermore, though it cannot be resized or customized and it looks a bit dull, the interface is also another big plus, as it is simple, intuitive and makes the application suitable for beginners as well.

While its previously reviewed version failed to successfully rip DVDs to the MP4 format, this problem has been fixed in the latest edition. Now Next DVD Ripper looks quite reliable to me too, besides easy-to-use and powerful.

In an end note, Next DVD Ripper is a nice tool that represents a handy solution for your DVD ripping and video file conversion needs.

Actually, I'm using version 4.0.2, and it rips a DVD into MP4 format pretty well. Not perfect all the time, but acceptable. The video generally has to be re-rendered in another application such as Videopad because NDVDR always gets the aspect ratio wrong even when you configure the settings manually. And half the time, the soundtrack is out of sync, so even if you use a time-shift function to advance or retard the audio so the dialogue matches mouth movements, it can still be out of sync in other scenes, leaving me to play around with the separate audio file in either Wavepad or Audacity, or chop it up and try to sync sections piece by piece. BUT...when NDVDR gets everything right, it's 99% perfect. Not too many headaches considering my version was freeware and leaves no watermark on the final copy.
